As both an electrical contractor and a wholesale outlet, we have proudly served the market for decades, delivering high-quality electrical goods and expert services.
As a leading wholesaler, we represent a vast spectrum of world-renowned brands, holding exclusive partnerships with several global industry leaders. This enables us to supply top-tier products, ensuring reliability and innovation in every offering.
As a specialist electrical contractor, we have successfully executed projects across diverse sectors, including tourism, healthcare, commercial, residential, and industrial developments. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the expertise of our team—all of our engineers are registered with the Botswana Engineers Registration Board, upholding the highest professional standards.
With our headquarters in Gaborone and a regional office in Francistown, we are proud to employ approximately 200 staff dedicated to delivering superior service and technical expertise.
A milestone in our journey came on January 1, 2025, when Sharps Electrical became a 100% Citizen-Owned firm. This transformation opens exciting new opportunities, reinforcing our commitment to local empowerment, industry leadership, and continued growth in Botswana’s electrical sector.

OUR STORY
Founded on October 5, 1967, under the Companies Proclamation Act No. 71 of 1959, Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd has grown into one of Botswana’s leading electrical contracting, retail and wholesale providers.
Recognizing the industry’s reliance on foreign suppliers, we expanded in 1977 to establish a retail division, supplying high-quality electrical products and equipment to Botswana’s growing contracting industry. This led to the opening of branches in Gaborone and Francistown, strengthening our national presence.
In 1986, our commitment to local industry development drove us to establish Lesedi Boards (Pty) Ltd, a group company dedicated to manufacturing electrical distribution panel boards, distribution pillars, and motor control centers—ensuring Botswana’s contractors have access to locally produced, high-standard solutions.
Throughout our history, Sharps Electrical has consistently evolved, investing in technology, modernizing operations, and expanding our expertise to maintain industry leadership. With headquarters in Gaborone and a branch in Francistown, our workforce exceeds 200 skilled professionals across engineering, administration, and technical services. We remain committed to training and employing local talent, fostering growth and expertise within Botswana’s electrical sector.
Sharps Electrical (Pty) Ltd is independently registered with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board of Botswana, BOCCIM, the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors of Botswana, and the Botswana Export Manufacturers Association. We actively contribute to industry standards through our representation at Botswana Bureau of Standards Committees.
We operate an in-house Quality Assurance System based on ISO 9000, adhering to Environmental, Community, Occupational, Safety, and Health (ECOSH) practices. Our team is highly experienced in FIDIC and JBCC contracts, ensuring compliance with Botswana Government Conditions of Contract.
A new chapter in our legacy began on January 1, 2025, when Sharps Electrical became a 100% Citizen-Owned organization. This milestone strengthens our commitment to local empowerment, industry leadership, and continued innovation in Botswana’s electrical sector.
